The Kawasaki Ninja moniker has been on the market since forever now and one of the most iconic models in the Ninja lineup was the ZX7R. With 12 AMA superbike championships under its belt, it’s safe to say that the ZX7R was also a pretty fast motorcycle in its time.

Although the bike was discontinued in 2003, it still remains a hit amongst bike collectors. And one such bike was sold by reseller Iconic Motorbike Auctions, based in the USA, and the new owner has tastefully turned it into a one-of-a-kind ZX7R.

Custom Kawasaki Ninja ZX7R - Looks Mean

The build started out as a 1991 (probably) Ninja ZX7R and eventually ended up as this mean-looking motorcycle.

The first thing that catches the eye here is the deep maroon paint scheme, bidding adieu to the stock signature shade of green. The bodywork is graphic-free and only gets subtle black stickering on the chunky tail section.

Paint scheme aside, the bike is also properly loaded with high-end performance parts. For starters, there are carbon fiber fenders at the front and rear, complemented by top-shelf Dymag carbon fiber wheels.

The carbon wheels are suspended on K-tech aftermarket USD forks and an Ohlins mono-shock, both fully adjustable. Meanwhile, braking prowess comes via EBC rotors clamped by Brembo calipers coupled with a Brembo master cylinder.

The owner has also equipped the ZX7R with aftermarket brake and clutch levers, rear-set footpegs, a quick-release fuel cap, and an Ohlins steering damper.

Custom Kawasaki Ninja ZX7R - Packs A Punch

The ‘surprise’ element with this build, though, is the engine. You see, instead of the stock 748cc, inline-four engine, this particular motorcycle packs an 899cc, inline-four mill borrowed from the Ninja ZX9 which puts out 135 horsepower on the rear wheel, nearly 30 horsepower more than the stock ZX7R.

And to make life easier and more symphonic when going full gas, the bike also features an electronic quick-shifter and a full system titanium exhaust from Muzzy.

Here’s a nice little exhaust video from the owner:

Being a private build, this Kawasaki Ninja ZX7R isn’t for sale but is instead enjoying its time in the owner’s garage (and probably heart).
