Legendary designer Pierre Terblanche gave us many striking motorcycles, and the Ducati 749 was one of the very best.

Dig this ride? Well, we’ve got some good news. Although it was discontinued in 2006, the folks at Bring A Trailer have a clean and sinister Ducati 749 Dark up for sale, a bike that is perfect to make you feel like the savior of Gotham.

Ducati 749 Dark

The Ducati 749 Dark was on sale from 2003 to 2006 and this pristine example here is from '05. It has just 478 miles on the clock and retains all of its stock, original components.

The 749 borrows its design cues from the iconic Ducati 999, featuring a unique fascia with two projector lights stacked vertically. While the 749 came in many colors, this, being the 749 Dark, comes wrapped in a stealthy shade of matte black bested by a silver trellis frame and silver Marchesini wheels, that's contrast rather well against all the black bits.

The vertical design is carried over to the cockpit as well, as the bike boasts a vertically stacked semi-digital instrument cluster. It has a big tachometer up top with a digital readout under it showing the speed, temperature, clock, and battery voltage.

Meanwhile, rounding everything off is a beautifully done tail section packing an under-seat exhaust, which is quite rare these days and remains one of the most noteworthy design elements to date.

Like the exterior, the bike’s insides are a work of art as well. The 749 is powered by a 748cc Testastretta twin-cylinder engine, coupled with a Marelli fuel-injection system, putting out 103 horsepower and 57 pound-feet. This power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed transmission.

Here's a short exhaust note video of the bike:

As for the underpinnings, the 749 packs fully adjustable 43mm Showa USD forks, a swingarm-mounted mono-shock, and triple-pot Brembo brakes upfront, all topped off by a tubular trellis frame.

The seller claims the bike was last serviced in August last year, going through an oil change, battery change, and replacement of the drive belts. To top it all off nicely, the seller has also thrown in sticky Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tires.

What’s The Price?

As I mentioned earlier, this particular Ducati 749 is up for grabs right now on Bring A Trailer. There’s no reserve price and the current bid (as I write this) is $7,000. If you’re interested, we suggest you head to the seller’s listing on BAT and make your offer.

Oh, and whatever the final bid, the buyer will also receive all original paperwork, owner’s manual, toolkit, both original keys, and a Pit Bull pit stand.
