The Harley-Davidson Iron 883 has made a solid name for itself and a lot of it has to do with the bike’s affordable price tag. But what if we told you there was an even cheaper way to look as cool as you would on an Iron 883? Well, the case in context is Lexmoto’s new 125cc cruiser that takes inspiration from the popular American cruiser, tones it down into a 125cc avatar, and even pays homage to its American roots by using “Detroit” as its name.

Lexmoto Detroit 125cc Cruiser Unveiled

Before getting to the bike, let us tell you that Lexmoto is a UK-based bikemaker specializing in affordable, Chinese-made motorcycles for the entry-level segment. While the company’s products usually adhere to retro British designs, the inspiration for the Detroit comes from across the pond.

One look at the bike and its Harley roots become clear in a jiffy. Right from the round headlight and gaited fork to the peanut-shaped gas tank and faux air-filter covers, everything looks reminiscent of the Iron 883 in one way or the other. Of course, the proportions aren’t as balanced here, but this still qualifies as a good-looking 125cc cruiser. Bonus points to Lexmoto for not pulling off a carbon copy of the 883, as we saw in the Iron’s Chinese doppelgänger case. }

Design aside, things are fairly basic everywhere else. For instance, the feature list only comprises of a digi-analog instrument cluster, LED indicators, and single-disc brakes at both ends. Similarly, the underpinnings boast telescopic forks, gas-charged shock absorbers, and 18/15-inch alloy wheels – pretty basic yet again.

As for its heart, the Detroit employs a Euro 5-compliant single-cylinder engine that makes 9.4 horsepower and 6.7 pound-feet. This, coupled with the low 310-pound weight, should make the bike a fun city commuter. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the bike maxes out at a claimed 65 mph.

What’s The Price?

This is where the Lexmoto Detroit truly takes the cake. At just 2899 Euros ($3080), not only is it super easy on the pocket, but it even undercuts its rivals such as the Yamaha XSR125. Not to mention, Lexmoto’s strong pricing is a prime reason why it dominates the 50 to 125cc segment in its hometown.

So, judging from all this, what’s your take on this baby wannabe Harley? Yay or Nay? We, for one, would give this a thumbs up!
