In recent times, there have been many rumors suggesting that Honda is looking to introduce a new minibike (or monkey bike) based on the iconic Dax but in a 125cc guise.

Putting all speculations to rest, Honda has finally taken the wraps off the resurrected Dax minibike, called the 2022 Dax 125.

2022 Honda Dax 125 Design & Features

The Honda Dax 125 is based on the 1970s Dax and this is well-reflected in its design language. Its overall silhouette, with the slim single-piece body and flat seat, is reminiscent of the old-school Dax, while also boasting a similar upswept exhaust.

Accompanying all this are shiny chrome bits like the headlight nacelle, rear fender, pillion grab rail, and rearview mirrors, all of which up the retro quotient of the new Dax 125.

However, as much as people love retro, these are modern times and a new product needs a fair bit of features to stay relevant in the current market. Lucky for us, Honda hasn’t ignored this.

You see, despite the Dax 125 boasts retro looks, it comes packed with features like all-LED lighting, ABS, blacked-out alloy wheels, and a cute little, round fully digital instrument cluster that packs a speedometer, odometer, fuel meter, and two trip meters.

Out of all these elements, my personal favorite part by a mile is the round LED lights, which look super-premium and are borrowed from the Honda Monkey 125.}

Honda will also soon introduce a variety of accessories for the Dax 125 including a different exhaust, ribbed seat, saddlebags, handguards, and even a short visor.

2022 Honda Dax 125 Engine & Underpinnings

From design and features, we come to the Dax 125’s engine. This is the same 123cc, single-cylinder engine found on the Grom and the Monkey 125. Expect it to put out the same 9 horsepower and 8 pound-feet.

However, the Dax 125 will come with an automatic centrifugal clutch, thus making it clutchless, unlike the Grom and the Monkey, which get a five-speed gearbox with a manual clutch.

Coming to the underpinnings, the Dax 125 rides on 12-inch alloy wheels clamped by single disc brakes at both ends. These are sprung USD forks and dual shock absorbers to offer a smooth ride.

Thanks to the small tires, the Dax 125 has a seat height of just 30.5-inches, making it accessible to all kinds of riders.

2022 Honda Dax 125 Price

Honda will announce the prices and full specs of the Dax 125 on March 19, 2022, at the Tokyo Motor Show. Once launched in its hometown, the Dax 125 could make it to international markets like the US, since most of its minibikes are already present here and are quite popular.
