After being virtually destroyed by fire, the chances of the Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Austria re-opening seemed impossible. And yet, less than a year later, a winter opening date has been announced.

Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum to Re-Open

Is there anything more depressing than watching a museum of priceless and irreplaceable motorcycles going up in flames? It happened years ago at the National Motorcycle Museum in the UK and at the beginning of this year at the Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum in Austria.

Given that the building was largely wood, one would imagine that everything was completely gutted, especially given the location which wasn't exactly within easy reach of emergency services. More than 200 motorcycles and thousands of exhibits were on display at the museum and, while it is not known how many were lost in the fire, it must have been heartbreaking for the owners.

However, in one of the most welcome pieces of news this year, it seems the museum will be re-opened in November! The owners of the museum, Attila and Alban Scheiber, posted an update on the Museum's social media account, saying that the site was scheduled to re-open on November 18th.

No doubt some of the machines on display will be restorable but this will take time. To fill the gap, the owners have turned to collectors throughout Europe to help rebuild the exhibition. It seems that those collectors have responded magnificently and bikes are flowing in.

Now, that's a great happy story to get you ready for the weekend.
