And so we reach the top 3 of our countdown and number three celebrates the daddy of them all: the Isle of Man TT

Top Ten Motorcycle Video Games, No.3: Isle of Man TT - Ride on the Edge 2

When even the professionals use a game to learn a track, at least initially, then you know it must be as close to completely accurate as it is possible to get, especially when the track is 37.75 miles around and getting even one of the hundreds of corners wrong in real life can mean death.

The TT course is a challenge all of its own and it's only right that Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge is the same. This is the second version of the game, as evidenced by the number 2 after the words.

The graphics are simply amazing. The level of detail is incredible and if you've ever been to the island, you'll recognise all sorts of landmarks, from shops to campsites, to pubs, not to mention the roads you rode on. Even the branding on the bikes and leathers is spot on.

The game's controls take a bit of time to get used to, which can make learning the track a bit frustrating but persevere: once you're familiar with the controls and can get down to learning the track, the rewards are immense. It is also realistic in that slow corners really do have to be taken slowly and speeds you can reach on the straights is dizzying.

There is a career mode where you can race against your personal heroes, such as John McGuinness and, once you're bored of the TT course, there are other courses to play, some real and some fictitious.

In short, it's brilliant!
