Number 7 on our list moves away from the road and track to the dirty world of MX riding.

Top Ten Motorcycle Video Games: No.7: MXGP3

Available on: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch

Riding a bike is always brilliant but here's something about getting really dirty while doing it and that's where MX or enduro or adventure riding comes in. Like every form of riding, however, it needs a big investment in time and money. Which is where all the games in the Top Ten list come in: all the thrills of riding without any of the attendant costs, even if the ultimate sensation is completely different.

Many video games are based around road or track riding but this one involves dirt tracks, indoor stadiums, motocross bikes, tricks and ramps. As the name suggests, this is the third generation of the MXGP game and, naturally, it's the best yet.

The sense of reality in this game comes from the fact that the actual teams and riders from the 2017 season are included so you can race as your favourite rider on your favourite bike.

Career mode is the best: you start as a rookie and work your way up through the ranks. You can enter the Motocross Grand Prix, racing at all 18 global locations that are on the official calendar. Naturally, there are hundreds of component upgrades you can make to your bike to improve performance.

One interesting element of the game is that weather can change without notice mid-race, ramping up the difficulty level and unpredictability.

If you're into MX, then this is the game for you.
