Triumph Motorcycles->ke1864 is no stranger when it comes to supporting events it believes is worth its time. One such event is the Motoblot, a motorcycle rally held annually in Chicago. Beginning in 2015 through 2016, Triumph will be lending its name as a main sponsor of the event, which will now be called the Progressive Insurance Motoblot Chicago powered by Triumph.

The event takes place from June 25 to 28, 2015, and like the previous 10 years of its existence, Motoblot continues the tradition of celebrating motorcycling’s rich heritage and lifestyle, complete with events, live music, and the customary meet and greets among motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the US.

This year’s event is loaded to the brim with events, none more important it seems than the Iron Moto Challenge, a custom build off competition that involves customizing a Triumph motorcycle. Four teams will vie for the top prize in this competition, including three Triumph dealerships in Chicago - Motoworks Chicago, Windy City and Woodstock - and a private builder serving as the fourth competitor.

As for Triumph, the motorcycle company’s involvement with the event isn’t just limited to having its name on the banner. It’s also going to display its lineup of motorcycles and more importantly, it’s going to offer a $500 voucher that the winner can use on Triumph’s parts and accessories, as well as goodies from the company’s own online shopping site, shop.triumphmotorcycles.com.

Why it matters

I’ve heard plenty of things about Motoblot, even though I myself have never been to any one of the events in the last 10 years. But I have friends who have been there and they swear by it and since I vouch for these people, I’ll take their word to the bank.

This year’s rally already has my attention since Triumph has upped its involvement with it. To have one of the country’s most popular homegrown motorcycle brands as a main sponsor for the event is another feather in the cap of the organizers of Motoblot.

That’s the kind of cache you can’t buy anywhere.

And for what it’s worth, the four-day rally is set to feature one action-packed event after another, beginning with the VIP Kick Start Party that will officially commence the event’s festivities.

Motoblot will also play host to the Ride-In Motorcycle & Hot Rod Show on June 27, 2015. The show itself is actually a competition of sorts wherein bikes from 16 different categories - intage British, Vintage German, Vintage Italian, Vintage Japanese, Vintage American, Vintage Scooter, Modern British, Modern German, Modern Italian, Modern Japanese, Modern American, Modern Scooter, Custom Cafe Racer, Custom Bobber, Custom Chopper, Hot Rod Car, Best Of Show - will all vie to be the best of their respective categories. Motoblot will even hand out 16 different trophies, although one of them, the Best of Show, will presumably be the one that every one would want to win. In any case, everybody can go see the show for just $10. I'll say that's well worth the price of admission.

There are more events lined up throughout the four-day rally, but from what’s already been announced, I’m pretty confident that this year’s Motoblot will be the biggest and best one yet.

Triumph seems to think that it will be, and if it has it’s way, you can at least expect to see a smattering of Bonneville’s, Thuxton’s, and Scrambler’s in Chicago for the rally.
