Hot on the heels of the Trident 660, comes news of a new Tiger Sport 660 model. Rather than waiting for grainy spy shots to emerge on the internet, however, Triumph itself has chosen to reveal the prototype in all its camouflaged glory, obviously trying to ramp up anticipation.

Triumph Tiger Sport 660 Revealed

Normally, we get glimpses of prototype models being tested via grainy spy shots taken by opportunistic snappers who happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Not this time! Triumph has taken it upon themselves to reveal the prototype of the new Tiger Sport 660 model ahead of its official launch.

Not many details are revealed but it is obvious that it is a development of the Trident 660 naked bike that was launched a few months ago to wide acclaim. That means that it will have the 80bhp triple-cylinder engine from that model, in a raised chassis courtesy of taller suspension.

In keeping with other Tiger Sport models from the company, the new model will be an adventure sport motorcycle, which means adventure bike styling and stance but road-riding-size wheels.

Further details are sparse but, looking at the brief video and studio shots, the Tiger Sport 660 will run on 17-inch wheels fitted with Michelin Road 5 tyres, using Showa suspension and twin front discs clamped by Nissin calipers.

The Tiger Sport 660 will join the growing middleweight adventure/sport segment, currently inhabited by the Aprilia Tuareg 660, Yamaha Tenere 700, KTM 890 Adventure and Yamaha Tracer 700.

With that segment containing some dedicated adventure bikes, could this mean that a full-on adventure model is on the cards as well? We wouldn't like to bet against it.
