Over the years, Suter Racing Technology, led by Eskil Suter, has built up a reputation for creating some staggering motorcycle chassis that have featured in MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, and WSBK. In 2018, Suter decided to use all this experience and resurrect the very popular but extinct two-stroke 500cc segment, thus unveiling the Suter MMX 500.

The track-only motorcycle quickly established itself as one of the craziest two-stroke race bikes ever made and one of these can now be yours, thanks to Iconic Motorbike Auctions. Let's take a closer look at what's on offer.

2018 Suter MMX 500 Race Bike For Sale

The company initially planned to manufacture only 99 such bikes, making it exclusive as ever. However, in reality, since this was priced at over $130,000, only 18 of these were ever built. The serial number, however, reads #69/99 because Suter gave all 18 owners the choice to pick any number between 1 and 99.

Being a race-track-only motorcycle, the Suter MMX 500 comes wrapped in full carbon fiber bodywork, this one featuring barely any graphics giving you an exposed carbon fiber experience.

The fun parts, though, are all hidden under the carbon fiber skin. Starting with the heart of the matter, the Suter MMX 500 is powered by a 576cc, two-stroke, V-4 engine that makes just under 200 horsepower on the rear wheel. The motor comes mated to a cater-built full-system Akrapovic exhaust system, creating a symphonic exhaust note.

Interestingly, the last to last owner of this bike sent the engine out to Suter for maintenance, who have now updated the engine maps on the bike, making the bonkers power output more manageable. This is backed up by the bike’s 0.68 mile (1.1km) odometer reading on the full race dash, likely to be the break-in mileage after popping in the new engine map.

Meanwhile, the current owner has never ridden the motorcycle, saving it just to be on display.

Complementing the top-spec engine is a race-spec chassis (Suter’s specialty) sprung on top-shelf Öhlins FGR forks and Öhlins TTX shock, both fully adjustable. This comes coupled with race-spec front and rear Brembo brakes that work in tandem with lightweight OZ wheels.

What’s also worth noting is that the sale will include loads of extra spare parts (you can check the list here) along with paddock stands and all original paperwork.

What’s The Price?

As you’d expect from a bike like this, the Suter MMX 500 will burn a huge hole in your pocket. For reference, the current bid (at the time of writing) is $70,000 which, believe it or not, seems like a steal.
