Unicycles are quite unique, but they fail to make little to no sense for the daily grind, which is why they have mostly been confined to circuses. Creative Science, a YouTuber from India though, wants to change that notion and he has thus created a self-balancing one-wheeled EV.

Electric Self-balancing One-wheeler

This unique bike, if you can even call it one, was made at home and the video runs you over the techniques used to come up with the unique vehicle.First, a sort of blueprint was prepared on cardboard in the exact same dimensions as needed for the build. This was then used to do markings on the actual metal sheet and was then cut accordingly to prepare the frame of the one-wheeler.

He then attached the frame to an alloy wheel (looks like this one is a 12-inch), thus creating the base structure. Next, a tubular frame goes on top of it and this is where the rider seat and bodywork were mounted. As for the self-balancing part, the YouTuber uses a special PCB and mounts it near the wheel on the metal frame.

For the final touch, a fuel tank was fitted near the handlebar which looks cool but barely serves any purpose, considering this is an EV. What remains unclear here, though is where the battery will go and how much juice, range, and performance can this electric unicycle offer.

What Did We Learn?

Well, this guy certainly proves that you can indeed come up with pretty much anything you like if you’re smart enough and if you have the right resources, and this self-balancing one-wheeled bike certainly proves that point.

What we didn’t learn and actually wanted to learn was whether this unique bike someday has the potential to actually be a viable option for getting around town. Now we know, perfecting something like this takes years and years of R&D but still, a little more information on how this bike operates and the sort of performance it offers would’ve been preferred.

Nevertheless, this is surely an interesting concept and something that mainstream manufacturers should definitely look into. Tesla, are you listening?
