If you don’t have a racetrack near you (or you can't afford one), chances are the twisties are your best bet for polishing your cornering skills. However, no matter how good you are, the road is the road and has several unforeseen dangers, which is why pushing the limit isn’t exactly advised. Plus, the danger is always higher on big, ultra-powerful sportbikes, and that’s exactly what you’ll witness here.

Ducati 1199 Rider Gets Desperate For Elbow Down And Almost Crashes

The video in context shows a Ducati 1199 Panigale rider pushing his boundaries and getting desperate for an elbow down (#DidItForTheGram), possibly to get a cool video or photo. But things don’t exactly go according to plan, as you can see below:

So why exactly did this happen? Well, if you look closely at the slo-mo shot, the bike looks unsettled even before the rider attempts the elbow drag, possibly due to the bumpy tarmac. Not only does this disturb the bike’s balance, but it also unsettles the rider, making him misjudge the line.

As a result, the rider goes wide at the exit of the corner, slips on the dirt, and hits a big bump, which only goes to show how unpredictable public roads can be. Not to mention if the rider had lost the front, he could’ve also ended up hitting the pole on his right.

All in all, this is an apt example of why you shouldn’t push your limits on public roads. Sure, you can practice as much as you want on canyon roads, but when you feel extra daring, go to a racetrack and push the boundaries there. So, even if you crash, at least you’ll slide into the gravel trap instead of hitting something and endangering your life.
