There are no two ways about it. MotoGP riders have crazy riding skills and can push the boundaries of what any bike can do, before reaching their own limits.

However, at times, even these serious riders have some fun. In this video, 2020 MotoGP world champion Joan Mir attempts a helmet drag during one of his training sessions.

Joan Mir Dragging Helmet While Riding A Supermoto Bike

This video is quite old, and dates back to Mir’s pre-Suzuki days in the Moto2 world championship, evident from his Marc VDS racing suit and helmet design.

The short video shows the rider going bonkers aboard a supermoto bike, reaching crazy lean angles while dragging his knee, elbow, and almost shoulder.

But the highlight of the video is the rider’s attempt to drag his helmet while turning the bike. The #36 attempts to do this multiple times, and even crashes off the bike a couple of times in doing so.

Finally, after a few attempts, Mir gets the job done, dragging his AGV Pista helmet on the tarmac and then carrying on to complete the turn. Something that we can’t even think of doing, let alone trying.

Of course, this took place at a closed circuit, and you shouldn’t attempt something like this out on the road, even if you’re wearing proper riding gear.

Post this video, Mir casually flaunts a small wound on his elbow (probably incurred due to the consistent elbow-dragging)

Final Thoughts

All in all, this is proof that MotoGP riders belong to a whole different breed of riders who can do some crazy things onboard a motorcycle.

While you read this, the factory Suzuki rider currently sits fourth in the 2022 MotoGP world championship, once again trying to fight for the title.
