While it's not currently OK to talk about anything Russian, there is something mesmerising about the restoration of this rare Russian scooter, found in a field.

How To Restore a Russian Scooter

While it's not terribly PC to refer to anything Russian at the moment, this video caught our eyes for a number of reasons.

Firstly, it involves the restoration of a rare Russian Vespa-type scooter from the 1960s. Seemingly plucked from a field in an unnamed location, it was in rough and dirty but complete state.

Secondly, there is something rather therapeutic about watching any motorcycle being brought back to life in 45 short minutes. The video has been nicely shot and edited, not always something you can say about unprofessional videos.

The restorer, who goes simply by the name of his Youtube channel's title - Rescue Story - has no fancy workshop or special tools: he does most of his work outside his garage in a street of similar lock-up garages, including spray painting the bodywork and chassis.

We are used to Russian designs being pretty ugly and workmanlike, but this unidentified scooter is actually rather pretty, an opinion helped by the fetching colour scheme he chooses.

It's the perfect viewing for a rainy day when your own restoration project has stalled for whatever reason.
