Yamaha riders Mark Burkhart, Grant Langston and Nate Adams took home an impressive cache of medals at the X Games 13 in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, August 4. Burkhart claimed the prestigious gold in the Super Moto competition aboard his Graves Motorsports YZ450F, while Nate Adams earned silver in Moto X Freestyle aboard his YZ250 and Grant Langston likewise took silver in the inaugural Moto X race on his brand new factory 2008 YZ450F.

In the Super Moto race, Burkhart started third behind Jeff Ward and David Pingree, then passed Pingree on the eighth lap and set his sights on defending champion Ward. Determined not to make any mistakes, he bided his time through the hour-long race, got through the required pit stop for a rear tire and fuel quickly, and finally passed Ward with two laps to go.

“The Graves Yamaha team and the guys in the pits did a great job and my bike ran perfect for the entire hour,” he said.

In the Freestyle competition, riders got 90 seconds apiece to impress the judges with a fluid array of their best tricks.

Despite recent surgery to pin a broken index finger, in his final run Adams turned in an amazing performance with six inverted tricks including cliffhanger, lazy-boy and 360 back-flips. Despite his injury, Adams earned the silver medal with a score of 93.60 to winner Adam Jones’ 94.40.

In MotoX, Ricky Carmichael took the holeshot with L&M Racing’s Chad Reed in second and Langston in third.

Langston got by Reed around the halfway point, ultimately taking the silver as Reed narrowly missed a bronze medal after battling with Kevin Windham.

“I was glad to see Grant on the podium and I’m looking forward to next year’s Supercross season with him,” said Yamaha Factory Team Manager Jim Perry.
