Arch Motorcycle, the brand new makers of the “American Power Cruisers,” has updated its flagship model, the KRGT-1 for 2020. Featuring over 20 major changes, and more than 150 newly designed and manufactured components, this $85,000 machine harks on the ‘obsession for an amazing soul’ for Keanu Reeves and his vision.

To up its badassery status, the machine now gets bestowed with beefier brakes, Arch spec Öhlins, fancy materials, enhanced electronics, and some fine aesthetic refinements. The 2032cc S&S twin-cam V-twin drive remains the workhorse but is tuned to deliver greater torque and power. Then, of course, is the bespoke ergonomic and aesthetic package to tailor the KRGT-1 to every individual’s spec.

FYI, KRGT is the initials of Hollywood’s Keanu Reeves and the self-taught engineer Gard Hollinger.

2020 ARCH Motorcycle KRGT-1

Not many manufacturers know how to concoct innovative design and artistic flair as flamboyantly as the LA-based house serves. The KRGT-1 gets over 200 pieces of machined components from over 1,200 lbs of aerospace-grade billet aluminum. The newly redesigned fuel tanks alone take more than 33 hours of machining to produce the beautiful, instantly recognizable ARCH tank profile.

The contours are now carved to give the rider heightened comfort and ergonomics while maintaining the 5-gallon capacity. The exposed metal spine of the frame splitting the tank in half keeps things raw. The newly redesigned tail section allows the saddle to be tailored to provide increased comfort and contact for the rider. And integrated with it is the elegantly polished tail-light section that acts as a reflective element housing the LEDs’.

At the front, a new carbon-fiber cowl sees an increase in size to house the updated instrument panel that has a cleaner layout than the previous one, also which is housed in a billet machined aluminum case. J.W. Speaker Adaptive 2 headlamp will be lighting up the road ahead while projecting a very futuristic voguish flair to the bike. It’s got cornering lights too. Intake dams under the cowling shunt air to the big 124ci mill.

Hand and foot controls have been re-positioned for increased comfort and a better riding position. Magura clutch and front brake assemblies do not let down in function, tactility, and performance. Both the front and the rear fenders are carbon-fiber, and so is the 5-spoke BST wheels. Finally, the team works with each owner to create a unique livery and finish for their KRGT-1.

POWERTRAIN

Powering this hunk is still the monstrous 124ci/2032cc V-twin powerplant from S&S, which will give the KRGT-1 an earth-shattering 122 pound-feet of torque, backed up by 122 horsepower(figures of the previous KRGT-1). The powerplant comes with ARCH’s proprietary Downdraft Induction System that makes its design narrow and efficient.

The S&S also gets equipped with proprietary fuel management and an ARCH/K&N Engineering filtration systems to get the bike running on Euro V norms. Proprietary Six-speed drivetrain with the compact high-torque main shaft and small dry clutch sends the power to the rear via chain drive. The folks from Yoshimura gave it a bespoke 2-into-1 carbon-fiber exhaust system with a stainless steel header.

RIDE AND HANDLING

Every ARCH begins with a tubular steel frame that sets the build to extract the maximum pleasure. The KRGT-1 wraps itself around this frame with an in-house machined billet aluminum subframe and race-inspired swingarm engineered to provide better rigidity and reduce un-sprung weight for improved handling and performance. Tethered to it is the machined aluminum side plates that let the makers strategically place isolation dampeners on to maximize comfort and control.

To keep this bad-ass hooligan in control, the chaps at Arch have equipped the KGRT-1 with top of the line equipment. It sees Ohlins proprietary 48mm FGRT series fork, fully adjustable at the front featuring NIX technology, and an Ohlins proprietary direct mount rear shock, fully adjustable at the back take care of the suspension duties. To support these, ARCH designed new triple trees support in-house, machined from an aluminum billet.

Braking department gets a purpose-built ISR dual six 30mm piston Monobloc radial-mount calipers with ISR floating dampened discs at the front. A single ISR four-piston Monobloc radial-mount caliper with ISR semi-floating disc does the job at the rear. These systems are said to provide the rider more stopping power with less effort providing a more responsive feel.

Slick Michelin Commander II tires on the lightweight BST carbon fiber five-spoke wheels do rubber patch contact on to the road. On the electronics side, Bosch integrated twin-channel anti-lock brakes come standard on all 2020 KRGT-1 models.

With every KRGT-1, the owner receives a personalized case that is milled off the same aluminum billet used on the motorcycle. It includes a personalized ID Plate commemorating the date of manufacture, serial number and owner’s name. Also included are a Special Tool Kit, Master Key, Upholstered Panel, and an Owners’ Book celebrating the design, build, and assembly of their ARCH KRGT-1 motorcycle, featuring studio photography.

Named after the famous World War II fighter plane, this machine is the first Curtiss V-twin in over 100 years and the last one powered by a V-twin gasoline engine that pays homage to the early 20th-century inventor, Glenn Curtiss.

The Warhawk is the first machine in over 100 years, having the Curtiss mark and gets all its cues from the P51 Fighter, including the engine, powertrain, and chassis. The same 2163cc air/oil-cooled triple-camshaft V-twin with traditional pushrod OHV moves the soul here as well. It cranks out a respectable 150 ponies and 160 pound-feet of torque. That is the biggest V-Twin on US soil.

Of course, it is still is very much a work of art as it is a mode of transportation showcasing minimalism, primitivism, and Avant-gardism, just like the P51. The same aircraft-grade billet aluminum monocoque frame gives the raw look of the P51 and comes with all the bells and whistles, including the plexiglass views of the fuel tank.

ARCH hand assembles the KRGT-1 since it has to suit every individual buyer’s bespoke specs. In the pursuit to give every rider the best available riding experience and a better connection with the machine, the chaps will tailor fit the motorcycle with the preferred ergonomic package. It starts with designing the saddle shape to befit the comforts of every rider. From here, infinite adjustments in bar, footpeg, hand, and foot control position create the perfect riding interface for the owner.

With so much attention to details, the KRGT-1 is quite the exotic. It continues to highlight ARCH Motorcycle’s philosophy of simple, elegant design and performance packed up to push the boundaries of what an American V-twin motorcycle should be. The levels of detail, precision, and production quality are some of the finest ever seen.

{{ { “The focus on fit and finish, the detail, the execution, the exceptional quality, how the bike is made defines ARCH.” } }}– Keanu Reeves
