Aprilia has always led the field in big singles. The Pegaso 650 was Aprilia’s first ever big bike, and is still one of the best sellers in its class today. In fact the Pegaso has been the reference point for over-600 cc singles for many years.
Aprilia’s R&D department never rests on its laurels, though. Determined to stay at the top, Aprilia is proud to present yet another innovative, high-tech motorcycle. Just as the Pegaso 650 set the standards for off-road singles when it was first introduced, the PEGASO 650 STRADA is the highest expression of advanced single cylinder technology today. A modern, four-valve, dry sump engine with electronic fuel injection and a 44 mm throttle body, ultra-light wheels and sports brakes are just some of its technical features. Small wonder then, that the PEGASO 650 STRADA is the new pace-setter that all others will have to contend with.
Fashions change; technologies develop; performance improves; but Aprilia’s panache for creativity remains constant. The PEGASO 650 STRADA is the first of a new age of motorcycles in which technology and design have a single mission: to deliver maximum enjoyment. The PEGASO 650 STRADA is packed with innovations and can easily be defined as fun on two wheels. This urban supermotard is designed for riding satisfaction on all types of road. It is also beautifully light to maximise fun and performance.
On the PEGASO 650 STRADA, every mile you ride is a mile of pure motorcycling pleasure.
The Pegaso 650 Strada is exciting, agile, manoeuvrable, dynamic, fast and everything else with it! It is born to devour mountain bends, thanks to superb engine performance and the sort of handling you would only expect from a sports bike.
Yet the same machine is amazingly agile around town too. With a total steering angle of 76° (38°+38°), the new PEGASO 650 STRADA can dribble through the traffic jams just like the smallest scooter, turning even the journey to work into a fun ride.
And the PEGASO 650 STRADA can become a totally different bike at the drop of a hat. The optional fairing screen (that can be adjusted to two positions) turns it from an aggressive urban machine into a road-hungry tourer.
The Aprilia PEGASO 650 STRADA also has a supermotard soul that emerges on twisty mountain roads and guarantees exciting sports performance for leisure-time riders and full-time motorcyclists alike. Its light weight and the unrivalled power of its single cylinder engine ensure amazing performance on country roads, and enable everybody to achieve their full potential in total confidence and safety. The Pegaso 650 Strada never shrinks from a challenge. Its uniquely easy ride and its perfectly balanced engine and chassis make it the definition of ridability, the heritage of all true supersports motorcycles and the hallmark of Aprilia and its flagship, the RSV 1000.
The PEGASO 650 STRADA’s unmistakable character, plus the sort of style that has always distinguished Aprilia motorcycles, make the bike instantly recognisable. Aggressive, eye-catching, and clearly Aprilia, the PEGASO 650 STRADA brings sporty elegance to every ride. Its good looks emphasise its light weight and dynamism from the first glance.
The bike’s vocation for fun and enjoyment is clear even when it is on its side stand! The sleek, streamlined design of the Aprilia PEGASO 650 STRADA declares the bike’s eagerness for sports riding even before the engine starts.
The Pegaso 650 Strada sets new standards in motorcycle design. Every single part has been made for perfect functionality and ergonomics. The result is perfect integration between man and machine, for unbeatable fun and universal ridability.
The Pegaso 650 Strada’s engine is a liquid cooled, four valve, single cylinder four stroke, with advanced electronic fuel injection designed for brilliant performance, low fuel consumption and, of course, extremely low emissions. The result is a machine that is fantastic to ride under all conditions.
The engine of the PEGASO 650 STRADA maintains Aprilia’s traditional dry sump design. What makes it so exceptional is its compact overall dimensions and advanced technology. Its power output of 50 HP (37 kW) at 6,250 rpm is perfect for the PEGASO 650 STRADA design concept, that prioritises enjoyable riding. This powerful but flexible engine has an exceptional torque curve and accounts for the dual personality of the PEGASO 650 STRADA: mean and aggressive for sports riding, docile and relaxed for daily commuting.
The PEGASO 650 STRADA has a healthy respect for nature. Like all Aprilia motorcycles it incorporates standard-setting engine technology because fun and enjoyment should not spoil the environment. A catalytic converter keeps emissions down to the threshold of the latest Euro 2 standards.
Other features of the Pegaso 650 Strada that deserve special mention are its anti-vibration counter-shaft for smoother running and greater comfort and its single throttle body with a micro-spray injector of the latest generation.
A compact, single spar, steel frame is the perfect backbone for a thoroughbred supermotard like the PEGASO 650 STRADA. Despite its extremely light weight, this frame delivers standard-setting rigidity as well as easy access for maintenance purposes.
Great care has been taken over suspension calibration to combine road holding and comfort. The PEGASO 650 STRADA is equipped with a robust fork with the largest diameter stanchions in its class (45 mm). Wheel travel is 140 mm. This fork provides the best possible compromise between easy riding, braking control and comfort. A robust anti-twist bridge helps make the front end even more rigid and imparts a feeling of solid reliability unequalled by any other bike.
The Sachs gas-filled monoshock at the rear is adjustable in spring preload and rebound. It too is calibrated for maximum control under sports riding conditions without penalising versatility. Rear wheel travel is 130 mm.
The Pegaso 650 Strada’s elegant aluminium alloy wheels copy the wheel design of the RSV 1000 R Factory supersports for an even more aggressive look. Wide rimmed wheels and large, road-going tyres (110/70 at the front, 160/60 at the rear) provide plenty of support for the Pegaso’s refined chassis. Great tyre grip and an extended area of ground contact guarantee a sensational ride in total safety.
The wheel spindles are 20 mm in diameter but hollow for greater strength and reduced weight.
To make riding the PEGASO 650 STRADA even simpler, seat height has been kept down to an amazing 780 mm, making it easy for riders of all statures, including lady riders, to get their feet firmly on the ground. The seat is specially shaped for maximum effectiveness in sports riding without compromising rider or passenger comfort. A high seat (820 mm) is also available as an optional accessory to make the bike more comfortable for taller riders.
Absolutely nothing has been overlooked, and only the best available components have been used. The front brake features a mighty 320 mm floating disc with a four-pot caliper, for the sort of braking power and control normally only found on supersport machines.
This powerful front brake is assisted by a 240 mm disk with a floating caliper at the rear.
The entire braking system has been calibrated for maximum efficiency, power and response.
Just like all Aprilias, the PEGASO 650 STRADA is equipped with top quality, prestige components. The following items deserve special mention:
- Generous, sports style, analog/digital instrumentation to provide you with all the information you need. Alongside the analog rev counter, a large, multifunctional, digital display incorporates an on-board computer to display all essential information.
Joystick at the left hand grip for control and consultation of the display
Easy display user interface in various languages
Service code engine diagnostics (CO control, ECU diagnostics, error management, service warning)
Variable gear-change threshold
Fuel gauge, water temperature, and battery meter.
Engine immobiliser with user programmable emergency start code (PIN), for maximum security and easy operation.
Aprilia Service Centres are equipped with the Axone 2000 system to reprogram the on-board computer via the motorcycle’s diagnostics socket. New SW releases and custom display layouts etc. can be loaded when required.
The display is extremely secure and easy to use thanks to a practical lever at the handgrip that lets you select the information you want without removing your hands from the handlebars.
- 2 storage compartments, including one you can open from a switch on the handlebars without having to remove the ignition key, plus an under-seat compartment.
Maximum attention has been dedicated not only to performance but to ergonomics and functionality too. The Pegaso 650 Strada has two storage compartments, one in the top of the tank and one under the seat. There is also provision for fitting an elastic luggage net over the passenger seat to carry more equipment on holiday.
For your convenience, the tank-top storage compartment is opened by a practical electric push-button on the handlebars. So your small change, mobile phone and motorway tickets are always to hand even with the engine running. The under-seat compartment has a capacity never before seen on this category of motorcycle, and is quite big enough to hold waterproofs and other small objects.
- Electronic engine immobiliser with user programmable emergency start code (PIN).
- Large twin headlight with simultaneously lit low and high beam units.
- Self-supporting fairing supporting the headlight cluster and instrumentation in a single structure; fewer parts and screws mean greater strength and reduced weight.
Two colour schemes enhance the dynamic looks of the PEGASO 650 STRADA: Sunset Red and Aprilia Black.
