A part of Harley’s 2009 CVO lineup is the already consecrated Softail Springer, an exclusive motorcycle that isn’t simply carried on as a new model year, but which gets a range of new features that aim towards emphasizing the original design, improving the riding position as well as upgrading the braking system, just to mention a few.
With the 2009 Harley-Davidson Softail Springer, it’s all about riding the best of the best. The style definitely sets this model apart from any other one, while the engine is the largest-displacement production unit currently manufactured by the American company.

Delivering an exclusive design combo of the nostalgic Springer front end and a wide 240 mm rear tire and fender, Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) rolls out a truly original motorcycle with the 2009 CVO Softail Springer. Based on a totally unique frame design with wide, fully polished and chrome-plated swing arm, fully polished chrome cast aluminum oil tank and a host of premium components and accessories, the CVO Softail Springer stands alone in the factory custom category.
The CVO Softail Springer also features exclusive granite and chrome treatment on the largest-displacement production engine offered by Harley-Davidson. The Screamin’ Eagle 110-cid (1800cc) Twin Cam 110B, a high-performance V-Twin engine, delivers top performance with 110 ft. lbs. of torque at 3000 rpm thanks in part to the free flowing Heavy Breather intake. The engine is rigid-mounted in the Softail frame, equipped with internal counter-balanced shafts and is mated to a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission for lower cruising rpm in top gear.
The Centerline accessory collection returns for 2009 with grips, footpegs and brake and shifter pedals, and horn cover. Chrome accessorized components include the brake and clutch master cylinders, voltage regulator, switch housings, belt guard, debris deflector and shift lever. Front and rear brakes include Road Winder rotors and the calipers match the Granite engine treatment.
As one of just two 2009 Harley-Davidson models with the quintessential Springer front fork design, the CVO Softail Springer presents a spiritual and exhilarating ride with authentic look and feel. The faithfully styled front end rides on an 18 x 3.5-inch Road Winder wheel and 130 mm tire with a new four-piston brake caliper with chrome forged mount, color-matched rigid forks and chromed spring components. The new wide 240 mm rear tire and custom Bobtail wide rear fender with louver accents ride on a new 18 x 8-inch Road Winder forged chrome wheel.
With a new, exclusively designed frame, chrome swingarm and specially tuned suspension, the CVO Springer is a Softail unlike any other. The custom seat with Buffalo inserts highlighted by contrast embroidered flames and CVO logo stretches to a custom full-length chrome fuel tank console and is topped with a five-inch speedometer with spun aluminum face. The forward facing exposed Heavy Breather intake carries a special “110” tube emblem and chrome end cap. Other new components include a chrome slash-down staggered dual mufflers with full length exhaust shields, Bullet mirrors with shortened stems, and chrome-plated dipstick, fork inserts, fender struts and covers, swingarm pivot bolt covers, axle nut covers, tank emblems and wheel spacers.
The third edition creation from Harley-Davidson CVO melds time honored Harley-Davidson engineering technology and styling creativity with an exclusive Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110B engine, stunning Genuine Motor Accessories and sizzling color options.
The CVO Softail Springer will be offered in three exclusive color combinations for 2009: Black Diamond with Emerald Ice Flames, Candy Cobalt with Blue Steel Flames, and Sunrise Yellow Pearl with Volcanic Fury Flames. The metal grind flames are topped with Candy highlights making every vehicle truly custom. All models feature color-matched frame, rigid fork and top clamp, frame inserts, and a headlight bucket with custom graphics. A Harley-Davidson Smart Security System with Smart Siren, an indoor storage cover with CVO logo, and unique Harley-Davidson CVO key in a presentation box are also included.
The Harley-Davidson CVO group creates limited-production, exclusive motorcycles produced by a team of highly skilled technicians in a special assembly area at the Harley-Davidson plants in York, Pa., and Kansas City. Approximately 2,500 of the 2009 CVO Softail Springer will be assembled at the York Vehicle Operations facility. The suggested U.S. retail price for the 2009 CVO Softail Springer is $26,999 ($27,099 in California).
