It’s common knowledge that motorcycle manufacturers are catering to an ageing customer base; kids are largely not interested in motorcycles. There is one branch of motorcycling that seems to buck this trend, however, and that is in the off-road categories and manufacturers with off-road bikes in their ranges are making sure to target youngsters with new model releases.

Kawasaki is one of the first manufacturers to reveal their 2022 MX and Enduro model line-up and it features three models suitable for complete beginners and more experienced young riders.

First up is the KLX110, four-stroke with semi-automatic gearbox, kick- and electric-start and an adjustable throttle stop which will rein in the fearless at the beginning and allow for more performance to be unlocked as experience grows.

Next up are the KX65 and KX85 models, available in small- and big-wheel versions and suitable for the more experienced and skilled riders. Price for the KLX110 will be around the $2,400 mark, while the KX65 and KX85 will be around $3,800 and $4,500.

Enduro models come in KX250X ($8,500) and KX450X ($9,700) versions. Both bikes share frame and swingarms and come with lights and sidestands to make them road legal. MX machines are the KX250 ($8,400) and KX450 ($9,500) and have slightly different suspension set-ups and are strictly off-road models.

It’s one of the curiosities of the off-road world that next model year bikes are released so early in the previous year. Despite this early announcement, all models should be available in dealers between July and October.
