Triumph's recently launched Trident 660 has set the cat amongst the pigeons in the middleweight naked sports category. Its main rival could be said to be the Yamaha MT-07 and, while they are similar in what they do, they go about it in completely different ways. But which is better? Is it even possible to choose?

It's not as if Triumph don't already play in the middleweight category: the utterly brilliant Street Triple has been around since the mid-2000s. But the Trident 660 is destined to fulfil a different role for the British manufacturer; that of a bike to entice new riders into the fold, a bike that has absolutely no vices whatsoever and is as unintimidating as a cuddly toy.

Having said that, it has enough talent in its perfectly formed chassis to keep any rider entertained, no matter their experience or skill level.

The same can be said of the Yamaha MT-07 so, which bike should you choose? The best way to decide is to turn to Motobob on Youtube and let him run you through both bikes.
