Mulholland a.k.a. The Snake seems to have a bad relation with motorcycles in general and GSX-Rs in particular as the highway’s often challenging curves happen to throw off the seats even the most experienced riders. We’re not sure if that’s the case with the next two examples that we came across, but they’re enough to make a point. The first rider lowsides and the second highsides, both while riding a Suzuki GSX-R on the same section of The Snake. Hit the jump to see the videos.
We just came across an interesting post on the triumph675 forum about the anatomy of a highside described by the author of the crash himself. Apparently, the rider was trying a new approach for Turn 9 of the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway and the tricky section of the track combined with a bit of dust turned out disastrous for the Suzuki SV650, while the rider walked away with nothing but a hurt pride.
The bike, which was recently fitted with new bodywork and paint, is now $3K away from another track day. Better luck next time!
Riding among all kinds of lunatics, a biker can never be too careful. That is why during motorcycle safety courses, instructors advise students to always check their mirrors, even when sitting at a traffic light, stop sign, or simply stopping along side of the road. But the thing is that nobody advises you about this sort of crap. I can’t imagine how that car ended up riding the Gixxer…I just hope the rider is ok.
We can’t figure out if either this Suzuki TL1000S is too powerful for the respective dyno or that thing that flew towards the testing equipment determined it to crash, but the footage is purely awesome and makes the bike look much more powerful than it actually is. The slow motion is even greater.
Last month at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, Jason McVicar of Vancouver experienced a crash from the Suzuki Hayabusa 1300 as he was establishing the speed record for the fastest production motorcycle ever: 391 km/h.
What makes the story even more amazing is the fast that it survived the crush without serious injury. We can’t say the same thing about its bike though as it was bended, disintegrated and burned as a result of the amazingly fast accident.
Which better way to compare a Suzuki Hayabusa with a Kawasaki ZX14 then on a straight line? And which better place to do that then at the O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis?
The Hayabusa was going for a good run, but it seems that previous burnouts for worming out that rear tire worn it too much, ending up blowing. It is amazing that the rider was still conscious after such a crash and I can understand why it didn’t got up its feet.
Computer games have their small monsters in the closet, but Hollywood beats them all. There can be no bigger proof than the scene in Mission Impossible 2 in which Ethan Hunt races around on a Triumph and competition soon arrives on a Suzuki.
Bullets, burnouts, jumps, everything was there for a box-office success. You don’t see this being done any more, but you can’t really say you loved it, don’t you?
