Triumph expanded its record-setting Bonneville Bobber range last year with the new-in-2018 Bonneville Bobber Black. The “Black” builds on that success with more of the same stuff that made it a hit in the first place and some custom touches that give it more of a home-spun look right off the showroom floor. Already a thoroughly modern ride, the factory brushed it up with more tech even as it embraced even more retro-tastic features for an interesting duality of development, if you will. The Bonnie Twin mill delivers its 77 horsepower with the same characteristic ’tude we expect.

A 1,200 cc plant pushes the classic-looking frame on the new-from-2017 Triumph Bonneville Bobber. Much like Harley-Davidson’s Softail, it comes built to look like an old hard-tail. The result is a modern ride with very deep roots traceable back to the Speed Twin 5T of the late ’30s. There are plenty of other little historical touches here and there, and though this is no replica piece, it can serve as a sort of rolling museum.

Triumph updated its Bonneville Bobber platform ahead of MY2021 with a number of improvements. Brake and suspension components were spruced up, along with a larger fuel tank and the extra range it brings. The engine itself is cleaner than ever and it spools up faster than ever for a double whammy in the drivetrain, plus the suspension and brake components come off a higher shelf to finish the practical changes. New paint packages and expanded blackout treatment gives this year-model a unique look, in spite of Triumph’s efforts to channel the soul of a decades-old design.

Triumph had a major field day yesterday when they unveiled two new models that will join the Bonneville family. The Speedmaster and the Bobber Black.

Based out of the Bonneville Bobber that was launched a year ago, both the models are pimped out by the factory to carry new stylings and attitude far from the original Bobber. While the Speedmaster gets to be a more laidback cruiser outlook, the Bobber Black showcases the dark side of the Bobber.

“Evil” is a complex thing. Sometimes evil is justified, and this is one of those times where Evil is all you want to be riding on.

Calling it a “pure Bonneville hot rod” the British manufacturer captured the American way of the ‘30s when they launched the brutally beautiful factory custom Bonneville Bobber last year. Now, the same guys went high on vile and have revealed a dark amalgamation of the mechanicals and stature of that very bike.

Its called the Bonneville Bobber Black. The one with some wicked demeanor.
