The Segway X160 is an affordable electric dirt bike, that is marketed as a go-anywhere bike. It only costs $3,500 on Amazon.

If you aren’t that concerned about the environment, however, you can simply get a basic gas-powered dirt bike, with the same capabilities, for nearly half the price.

Wondering what’s better between these two? Well, YouTuber Bikes & Beards have tested exactly that via a series of tests, and here’s the answer.

Segway X160 Electric Dirt Bike vs Gas-powered Pit Bike

The first test to help determine which bike’s better is, of course, a good ol' drag race, and considering the Segway X160 boasts a torque of over 180 pound-feet, the ball is clearly in the e-bike’s court.

However, it’s actually the gas-powered bike that jolts ahead of the torquey Segway and keeps on building up the gap, ultimately taking the win.

Next up is the hill climb test, and this is where things get interesting.

You see, BOTH bikes fail to reach the top of the hill and get stuck while climbing. But it’s, once again, advantage gas-powered dirt bike because it manages to go further up the hill than the Segway X160. If it’s any consolation, though, the Segway is lighter so the rider basically pulls it up to the top of the hill. it up to the top of the hill.}}

Finally, for the last test, the two bikes are put through a time trial on a tight off-road trail

Making the tally 3-NIL, the gas-powered dirt bike outperforms the Segway again, recording a 13-second faster time, thus making it the clear winner between the two. It is worth noting, however, that the Segway X160 looks more at ease during the test, probably because there’s no clutch or gearbox to deal with.

Conclusion

Well, judging from the tests, it’s quite evident that the $1,500 gas-powered dirt bike makes much more sense than the $3,500 Segway X160.

However, the Segway X160 is surely a capable electric off-roader that you can basically ride anywhere, road, or no road. road.}} We won’t recommend it right now, though, at least not until the bikemaker fixes all of its setbacks. Check out the video below for more details:
