There are normal riders and then there are ace riders, the sort of people who push the boundaries of riding to new heights. YouTuber and Honda rider Kirian Mirabet Vidiella belongs to the latter. He has so far done some bonkers things with his rally-spec Africa Twin including riding on ice, jumping around, steep hill climbs and attacking trails, amongst other things.

But that wasn't enough and Kirian wanted more. So he recently attempted a backflip on his Africa Twin and since a normal Africa Twin wasn’t crazy enough, he performed this stunt with panniers put on.

Honda Africa Twin Backflip

A backflip is a tricky stunt and it basically means rotating 360-degrees your bike (along with yourself) while being in the air, then landing it right-side-up. While this is a common stunt for motocross and enduro riders, doing it with a production motorcycle was a different challenge altogether, especially on something like the Honda Africa Twin.

You see, the Africa Twin is a hefty bike weighing 505 pounds, which means maneuvering it is a task in itself let alone flipping it 360-degree in the air. Not to forget, this also tampers with the safety of the rider and can result in an unnerving serious injury.

For these reasons, Kirian prepared a safe setup before attempting the jump. The setup comprised a ramp (obviously), a pit filled with thick foam for a safe landing, and a crane to lift the bike out of the pit.

After prepping up and getting a few tips from a fellow ace Enduro rider, it was time, and well, Kirian nailed it. Not only was it a successful backflip, but it was also a perfect landing in the pit without any disruptions.

Now we don’t know how many attempts it actually took to perfect the jump but it’s still super impressive that he managed to pull it off.

In the end, as easy as it looks, this is an insane stunt and doing it on a hefty production motorcycle (with hard panniers) only makes it even more insane. Hats off to Kirian!
