After six crisp new unveils, we’re finally at the last Ducati World Premiere of 2022, and it’s probably the most exciting one for most of us (from an affordability point of view). The newest version of Ducati’s most affordable motorcycle - the Scrambler 800 - has arrived, and it features plenty of updates, all catered to help it break more sales milestones.

The 2023 Ducati Scrambler Boasts Truckloads Of Tech

Let’s face it, the Scrambler had started feeling dated for a while now, and that’s exactly what Ducati paid the most attention to for its 2023 updates. The Scrambler bids adieu to its basic LCD instrument cluster and joins its Ducati siblings in the TFT club. The new 4.3-inch modernizes the cockpit and brings with it smartphone connectivity and a new electronic package. No, the package isn’t as insane as the Panigale V4, but traction control and ride modes are a welcome touch. Similarly, the throttle is a ride-by-wire unit for a better feel while a slipper clutch ensures less fatigue during shifts.

Complementing all this tech is a refreshed design. The Scrambler now appears tighter and slimmer, courtesy of the new side panels, alloys, and repositioned exhaust pipes. It still looks undeniably Scrambler, though, as it retains its bespoke touches like the circular DRL and minimalistic tail. Speaking of lighting, it’s an all-LED setup which helps modernize the design.

Say Hello To The Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle And Nighshift

Those who aren't fans of the design will have two more iterations of the Scrambler 800 for 2023 from which to choose. First is the Scrambler Full Throttle. It is the sportiest model in the lineup, thanks to a red-black livery, a lower handlebar (than the Icon), an exclusive seat cover, and sleeker Ducati Performance indicators. More importantly, the Full Throttle benefits from a bi-directional quickshifter and a Termignoni exhaust for a boost in performance.

The second one is called the Scrambler Nightshift. It ups the ‘scrambler’ feel in the lineup with its spoke wheels and ribbed seat, but it also promises a sporty feel via the flat handlebar. Like the Full Throttle, this one also has a special livery (deep blue with silver pinstripes) and Ducati Performance LED indicators. Oh, and in case these variants still don’t cut it for you, the fenders, fuel tank panels, and headlight nacelle are all customizable (you can choose from six different colors).

Common between all three models and unchanged for 2023 are the underpinnings and engine. The 803cc engine, though mated to modern kit, pumps out the same 73 horsepower, and sits in the same trellis chassis as before. It will feel punchier, though, as the 2023 Scrambler is 4kg lighter than before. Like the chassis, the 41mm KYB forks, monoshock (now mounted in the middle), Brembo calipers, and Pirelli MT60 rubber all remain the same.

The 2023 Ducati Scrambler 800 range begins from $10,995 (Icon) and goes up to $12,195 (for the other two). It still remains the most affordable motorcycle in the Ducati lineup, but costs considerably more than its rival, the CFMoto 700 CL-X. It’s still cheaper than the Triumph Scrambler 900, though, but just by a whisker. You can expect the new Scramblers to reach dealerships in early 2023.
