One could argue that the Ford Bronco Sport doesn't offer the same off-road capabilities as the standard Bronco. As a more practical vehicle, the Bronco Sport is not as rugged as the standard Bronco, and it can be mostly used as a daily driver, although Ford promises it can take the same off-road journeys as its brother. If you want even more off-road fun in the Bronco Sport, Ford has just announced the new Black Diamond Off-Road Package. Ford is also expanding Bronco Off-Roadeo access for customers that purchase a new 2023 Bronco Sport.
The Black Diamond Off-Road Package Is More Than Just Special Finishes And Logos
Fortunately, the new Ford package is about a lot more than aesthetic. First, there is a special set of new bash plates that cover those parts that can be damaged easily during off-road fun - the front metal skid plate, the fuel tank, and the canister shield. Ford is also adding a new set of 17-inch aluminum wheels finished in a low shade of Carbonized Gray. They are wrapped in all-terrain tires size 225/65R17 all-terrain tires.
And yes, the package adds a matte black hood graphic with small Bronco horse logo, plus some extra graphics with Bronco lettering on driver and front-passenger doors. All these to make the Bronco Sport a little more appealing.
No Changes Are Made Under The Hood
The new Black Diamond Off-Road Package can only be ordered with the 2023 Bronco Sport Big Bend and Outer Banks trim levels and offers no updates under the hood. Both the Big Bend and the Outer Banks trims are offered with a standard 1.5-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost engine that delivers a total of 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. If you want the more powerful 2.0-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, then you have to opt for the Badlands trim, but in this case you won't be able to select the new package.
It Will Come With Bronco Off-Roadeo Experience
The new 2023 Bronco Sport equipped with the new Black Diamond Off-Road Package, and any other 2023 Bronco Sport for that matter, will give you access to the Bronco Off-Roadeo Experience. This means you will get a one-day off-road experience with instructors that will teach you about the capabilities and performance of your Bronco. These off-road playgrounds are located in Horseshoe Bay, Texas (near Austin); Mt. Potosi, Nevada (near Las Vegas); Moab, Utah; and Gilford, New Hampshire.
