Roush Performance is an established name in the American car segment, with performance kits for popular kids like the Ford Mustang and F-150. Everyone needs a new challenge, however, and to do just that, Roush has now forayed into the three-wheeler world. The result is this Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition, ripe with special components to draw envious stares anywhere you head. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Based on Polaris’ flagship Slingshot R, the Roush Edition has plenty to set it apart in the Slingshot lineup. The most notable aspect is its bespoke Racetrack Red livery, which flaunts a light gray base coat, punchy red accents, and all-black alloy wheels. The red finish also drips down into the cockpit, courtesy of the seat and steering wheel cover, both replete with red accents.

Lasering in on the cockpit, it consists of a 7-inch display powered by Ride Command for infotainment, while the Slingshot-related necessary details - fuel level, speed, tachometer, trip meters - are shown on a digi-analog instrument cluster. These may be identical to the Slingshot R, but the Roush-badged gear lever, glove box, Roush instrument cluster background, and Sparco billet pedals help the Roush edition stand out.

It Still Puts Out 203 Horsepower

At heart, the Slingshot Roush Edition is exactly the same as the Slingshot R. It employs a 2.3-liter, four-cylinder mill that produces 203 horsepower and 144 pound-feet, offered with either a five-speed manual or an automatic transmission. Though this is good enough for a zero to 60mph spring in just 4.9 seconds, the lack of performance upgrades is a bummer, especially from a brand like Roush. The same can also be said for the underpinnings, as you get the same tubular chassis, shock absorbers, and aluminum wheels. However, the slotted Brembo rotors (which measure 14 percent bigger than the stock) boost the braking prowess of this 1,680-pound (1,692 for the automatic) three-wheeler.

The Polaris Slingshot Roush Edition Starts At $37,349

Polaris and Roush Performance have priced the special edition Slingshot R at $37,349 and $39,499 for the manual and automatic variants, respectively. This makes it $3,350 more than the Slingshot R, which doesn’t seem too big a deal, in our opinion. But let’s not forget, most of the updates are solely cosmetic, so you will probably have to invest in some performance mods to match your Slingshot’s ride dynamics with its looks.
