His Excellency Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority, Abu Dhabi said in a press conference that he is delighted with the way things are going with the building of the new race track and that a number of tasks are already ahead of schedule, which includes the excavation and walling of the marina and piling work for the pit building.

The circuit for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be built on Yas Island, a natural 2,550 hectare island located to the east of Abu Dhabi island. Along with a The World-Class FIA Sanctioned Racetrack , Yas Island will feature a Ferrari theme park, signature hotels, golf courses, a 300,000 square metre retail area and much, much more.

Spectators will enjoy close, competitive racing played out on three distinct sections of the 5.6km race track. These include high speed areas ending in tight overtaking turns, a street section and a marina section, all of which combine to deliver an unrivalled Formula 1™ viewing experience.

It will be one of the longest and most demanding tracks in the world, and will include an iconic grandstand hairpin for the ultimate in spectator entertainment.

The designer of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix track is well respected Formula One track architect Herman Tilke, whilst construction is being managed by one of the UAE’s leading property development companies, ALDAR Property Development Company.
