Markus Winkelhock favourite to drive for Spyker F1 team
Markus Winkelhock is now the favourite to take the vacant seat left after Christijan Albers was dropped by the outfit following sponsorship problems. After Christijan has left the team Spyker tried the skills of many drivers like Honda Racing test driver Christian Klien,Williams test driver Narain Karthikeyan and GP2 racer Roldan Rodriguez but it seemed that not even one was good enough to race for the Dutch team.
However it looks like Winkelhock has big chances to drive for the Dutch team, and his first race could be at Nurburgring, in Germany.Spyker has to take the final decision until Wednesday afternoon.
If we think at Winkelhock roots we could have something to worry about because: Winkelhock’s father Manfred raced in 47 grands prix between 1982 and 1985 for the ATS, RAM and Bragham teams. Manfred’s best result was in 1982,when he placed 5th at the Brazilian Grand Prix.Winkelhock’s father ended tragically: he was killed in a sportscar accident in 1985 at Mosport, Canada.
