Casey Mears gets pole position at Chicagoland Speedway
Casey Mears completed a lap at Chicagoland in 29.580 seconds with a top speed of 182 mph. These were the elements that helped him to win the pole position for Sunday’s Nextel Cup race at Chicagoland Speedway.This pole position represents the 3rd in Casey’s career of 163 Nextel Cup races.Looks like the 29 years old driver ,and newphew of four time Indianapolis 500 winner Rick Mears, is improving his performances in the Nextel Cup.
Casey’s team-mates were also fast here at Chicagoland: Kyle Busch qualified 5th,Jimmie Johnson on 8th place and Jeff Gordon, the leader of the Nextel Cup,on 11th place.
Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson, John Andretti and Matt Kenseth completed the first ten qualifiers at the Chicagoland Speedway.Ryan Newman qualified 3rd in a Dodge.Newman was followed closely by Mark MArtin and Earnhardt, both driving Chevrolet cars.
Martin Truex Jr. will start outside the front row after a lap of 182.478 mph in his No. 1 Bass pro Shops Chevrolet.Michael had more luck (if you can call this luck...) than Martin Truex Jr. , qualifying on the 28th place.This place will allow him to take the 4th start in a race for his team Michael Waltrip Racing.
The drivers that failed to qualify for Sunday’s race were : Scott Riggs, Brian Vickers, Dale Jarrett, A.J. Allmendinger, Kevin Lepage and Kenny Wallace.
