Richard Childress Racing continuing partnership with GM
Richard Childress Racing made an announcement on Saturday that their partnership with General Motors will continue and they will be a Chevrolet team also in the 2008 season. The team is the longest running Chevrolet team in the Nascar championship and won over 160 races in 10 championships between Nextel Cup, Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series.
The team last won the Nextel Cup in 1994 and seems that this year they have big chances to repeat the success because currently they have their three drivers in position to make the chase for the Cup.
"I’ve always been Chevrolet," said team owner Richard Childress. "There was a couple years we got off and came right back, although it was a GM product".
Richard Childress also said that he is planning to add a fourth team in the Nextel Cup series. He is planning to include JJ Yeley, who will live Gibbs Racing at the end of the season, but he admitted that Scotsman Dario Franchitti is also a good option. Childress is expected to make the announcement with his final decision next month.
