Porsche Mobil1 Supercup premieres in Istanbul
This weekend represents a premier for the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup because is the first time when the drivers will compete in the Grand Prix of Turkey. The 9th round of the championship in Istanbul Park promises to be very interesting due to the interesting characteristics of the race track. Istanbul Park represents one of the world’s most modern circuits. With its 5.338 kilometre and a width of the track measuring up to 21.5 metres the drivers have many chances to overtake their competitors. The battle for the first place in the championship is very tight.Richard Westbrook (Great Britain, 125 points) is the current leader of the championship.The second place belongs to Damien Faulkner (Ireland) with 109 points. He is followed by Uwe Alzen (Germany) with 91 points.
These drivers are closely followed by the Supercup champion from 2005, Alessandro Zampedri (Italy, 81 points). With a difference of just 2 points, on the 5th place is quadruple Supercup champ Patrick Huisman (Netherlands).On the 6th and 7th place are Christian Menzel (Germany, 78 points) and the young Frenchman Nicolas Armindo (72 points).Eighth place belongs to the ex-DTM pilot David Saelens from Belgium with 68 points.The top ten is closed by Richard Williams (Great Britain), with just 42 points.
