Hispano Suiza was a famous Spanish automaker at the beginning of the twenty century, but it disappeared from the market after it built its last car - the H6B "Xenia" - in 1938. Then, at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Hispano Suiza finally made a comeback after an absence of more than 70 years.
Its first car was of course the Carmen, with the Boulogne version firstly being announced at the virtual 2020 Geneva Motor Show. Now, with the first actual show really happening - the IAA Mobility 2021 - the Carmen Boulogne is finally making its world debut.
What's so special about the Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne?
The new Carmen Boulogne is lighter than the standard Carmen version. In order for this to happen, Hispano Suiza used revised suspension components, a new sub-chassis, and a carbon roof. The result: the new Boulogne version is about 132 pounds lighter than the Carmen.
It is also the most powerful version of the Carmen.
The electric motors take their power from a 80-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack that ensure a range of 249 miles - a number that will put to shame many of the "famous" electric cars.
Hispano Suiza will build a total of five Carmen Boulogne - next to the previous 14 Carmen models. Prices will start from €1,650,000 (plus taxes) (about $2 million at the current exchange rates).
