Daniel Abt and his series of pitting the 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S against Ferraris continues. Last time, the German went up against the Ferrari F8, but this time, it squares up against the Ferrari 488 Pista. The Pista comes with the same engine, power specs, and transmission as the F8, but it is even lighter. If you have watched that video, you’ll remember that the F8 and the 911 Turbo S won one race apiece. Do you think the Pista can win both the drag races against the Porsche this time, or will the German have the last laugh?

The Ferrari Has More Horsepower, But Less Torque

The Porsche 992 911 Turbo S is powered by a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that churns out 641 ponies and 590 pound-feet of twist. It is mated to an eight-speed PDK as well as an all-wheel-drive system.

The Ferrari 488 Pista comes with a 3.9-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that makes 711 ponies and 568 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Both The Drag Races Were Quite Close

In the first drag race, the Ferrari 488 Pista took 3.6 seconds to 62 mph and 5.2 seconds from 62 mph to 124 mph. It completed the quarter-mile run in 10.92 seconds and half-mile in 16.64 seconds. The Italian managed to record a top speed of 168.1 mph.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S, on the other hand, took 2.7 seconds to 62 mph. While it was 0.9 seconds quicker to 62 mph, it was 0.88 seconds slower from 62 mph to 124 mph. This, however, didn’t matter as the Porsche still won the race. It took 10.36 seconds to quarter-mile and 16.34 seconds to half-mile, making it 0.56 seconds and 0.30 seconds quicker than the Ferrari to the quarter-mile and half-mile mark, respectively. The 911 Turbo S recorded a top speed of 161.9 mph.

The result of the second run wasn’t any different, but it was closer. The Pista took 10.75 seconds to quarter-mile and 16.54 seconds to half-mile. The 0-62 mph time was 3.39 seconds whereas 62-124 mph took 5.39 seconds. It recorded a time of 166.1 mph. The 911 Turbo S, on the other hand, completed quarter-mile in 10.42 seconds and half-mile in 16.41 seconds, making it 0.33- and 0.13 seconds quicker to the milestones, respectively. It took 2.75 seconds from 0-62 mph and 6.14 seconds from 62-124 mph. It recorded a top speed of 161.4 mph.

Conclusion

Since the 911 Turbo S versus the F8 race was a draw match, we expected the Pista to win both races since it has a better power-to-weight ratio than the F8. But, it lost both the races, which was quite surprising. Do you think factors like the road condition, tires, and the driver’s skills played a part here? Could the Pista defeat the 911 Turbo S if not for these factors? Watch the video below and share your views with us in the comments section.
