A Dodge Viper Just Ran the Quarter-Mile In 6.8 Seconds

Any faster, and this Dodge Viper would travel through time

This second-gen Dodge ‘Juggernaut’ Viper, has managed to complete quarter-mile in 6.89 seconds at the Hail Mary Derby

This is now officially the world’s quickest Dodge Viper, beating the nine-year old 6.96-record

The owner, Will Dugas, has been working on this car for a long time

HIs previous best time was 7.14 seconds with a trap speed of 211 mph

The car is powered by the fifth-gen, 8.4-liter V-10 engine that churns out 3,250 horses! It features Garrett turbochargers and performance headers

Other changes include bigger injectors and a high-performance intake manifold. Also, the car rides on Ethanol

It even features a MoTeC ECU and a three-speed Turbo 400 automatic gearbox

Five-inch dual exhaust pipes peep from under the bumper. Parachutes are placed at the back to help it come to halt

The owner mentioned that keeping it from doing wheelies was a challenge, courtesy of all that power

But, it all paid off in the end because Will managed to do the run in 6.89 seconds, beating Sal Patel's nine-year old record by .07 seconds
