Drag races seem to never get old. They are the ultimate straight-line performance test for any car. A quarter-mile drag race shows not only how quick a car is, but also how well it puts the power down. With this in mind, the YouTube channel Officially Gassed is giving us an epic drag race, between two highly modified vehicles – a Litchfield-tuned Nissan R35 GT-R and an Audi TTRS modified by Awesome GTI.

In addition, the gearbox has been beefed up and a new Quaife limited-slip front differential. The car weighs in at 3,858 pounds (1,750 kg) and puts down 1,000 horsepower at the crankshaft. It’s also worth noting, the GT-R runs Michelin street tires and pump fuel.

The same goes for the DSG transmission. Modifications include a TTE 777 turbocharger, 980 cc injectors, custom downpipe by Scorpion, APR intake, and Air Tech intercooler. The TTRS also features a full-drag tire setup, runs on E85 fuel, and the interior is fully stripped.

Both cars send power to all four wheels. It’s the GT-R’s ATESSA ET-S versus Audi’s Quattro. Dan – the owner of the Audi actually has the quickest TTRS currently in the UK. Martin – the GT-R owner – might have his hands full.

Before the actual race, the cars set up for a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration run. The GT-R seems to stagger off the line, but still achieves a respectable 2.96 seconds to 60 mph. Officially Gassed has a leaderboard and, sadly, the GT-R does not make the top 10 in terms of 0 to 60 mph time.

The Audi, on the other hand, manages a blistering 2.29-second time to 60 mph (97 km/h). This also secures the number three spot on the leaderboard.

On to the quarter-mile! Firsts, the two cars run separately. The GT-R bogs down, which slows it down, but in the end, it still managed a 10.07-second time, at 152.88 mph (246 km/h). As for the Audi, it managed to do a perfect launch and ended up crossing the line after 9.63 seconds, at 148.36 mph. This puts it at the top of the leaderboard, previously taken by a Porsche 992 Turbo S. Although the Porsche had an identical 9.63-second quarter-mile time, the TTRS had a trap speed 2 mph higher than the Porsche.

Finally, the two cars line up for a head-to-head drag race. From a dig, the GT-R’s poor start results in a win for a convincing win. However, the GT-R passed the finish line with a seemingly higher top speed. How would they fair from a rolling start? After a bit of misunderstanding, the cars managed to do a proper rolling race. The GT-R, in fact, starts from further back, but once the launch procedure has been eliminated, Godzilla takes the win, easily.

Regardless, the race proves just how good of a tuning platform these two cars are. Even with a street setup, the GT-R held its own, solidifying its reputation as a supercar slayer. The small Audi, on the other hand, proved just how vicious and robust it can be when done right.
