The folks at ‘That Racing Channel’ laid their hands on the new Tesla Model S Plaid. We’ve seen the quickest production EV in action many times, but it still manages to surprise us every single time. The Model S Plaid has slaughtered the GT-R on a drag strip in the past, and a slightly tweaked version has made short work of the Pikes Peak recently. All this made the Tesla Model S look invincible, but the car seems to finally its kryptonite. No, it’s not a high-end supercar or a new 'Performance' (pun intended) EV; it’s a remote control car! Sounds insane, doesn’t it?

The Model S Plaid Is No Match For This RC Car

Let’s get the specs out of the way. The Tesla Model S Plaid comes with a tri-motor setup that makes 1,020 horses combined. The RC car you see here is not just a toy. To describe it from an automotive point, it comes with a six-battery setup in the stock form, but features an eight-cell setup here. It is powered by Castle 17x17 motors and features an all-wheel-drive system.

The Model S Plaid can sprint to 60 mph from standstill in 1.99 seconds under ideal conditions. It has a top speed of 200 mph. People have managed to do this sprint in low two seconds in the real world, too. This remote control car is the Arrma Infraction car that can do 0-60 mph sprints in 1.83 seconds. For this race, the hardware has been upgraded and it can sprint to 60 mph in just 1.65 seconds. The car can complete one-eighth mile in 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of over 135 mph. For those of you wondering about the price, it costs about $650.

How Was The Race?

They went up against each other thrice. The RC car slithered away in the first two races but couldn’t stay its course for long. But, till the time it did, it stayed ahead of the Plaid. For the third race, the tires were changed and the RC car kept its line. There were no cameras at the finish line, but the car stayed on par with the Model S Plaid till the very end. It looks like the Tesla Model S Plaid has finally found its match.
