Can A Ferrari F8 Tributo Pin Down A 1000-HP Porsche 911 Turbo S On The Drag Strip?

How does this bone-stock F8 Tributo with RWD stack up against a tuned 1000 HP Porsche Turbo S with AWD?

Brooks from DragTimes on YouTube put out a video of stock F8 Tributo taking on a tuned Turbo S. The show down took place at the ATCO Dragway in New Jersey

We have a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo with a a 3.9 Liter Twin-Turbo V-8 engine that produces 710 HP and 569 lb-ft of torque, which is sent through a seven-speed DCT

The Porsche is a 2019 991.2 Turbo S with the ES850 package, done by AIM performance in NJ. It has a 3.8 Liter Twin-Turbo Flat Six engine, that produces 890 HP and is mated to Porsche’s seven-speed DCT

With the numbers out of the way, let's race! After laying down some rubber, both cars are ready for launch

The lights turn green and the Porsche's driver has a poor reaction time

As a result, the Ferrari pulls away and stays in the lead pretty much all the way till the finish line

But, looking at the numbers tells a different story, because the Turbo S managed 10.18 seconds at 145 mph while the F8 took longer at 10.26 seconds at 137.11 mph

The cars line up for a second run

This time around, the Ferrari's driver had a poor reaction time

And the Porsche pulled away hard from the get go and stayed in the lead

easily taking the quarter-mile win

The AWD Porsche did a sub-10 second time of 9.98 seconds at 145.23 mph, while the F8 managed a time of 10.45 seconds at 135.48 mph

Both cars lined up one last time for a final pass

The hammer drops and both have a near perfect launch with spot-on reaction times

The F8 kept up with the Turbo S for a bit

But by the halfway mark, the Porsche with its superior traction and power advantage began to pull away, winning this final run

The Turbo S did a time of 10.51 seconds at 144.40 mph

while the Ferrari managed 10.33 seconds at 137.48 mph in this final run

So an easy win for the Porsche then. But I am staggered by the F8's performance, even in stock guise. Swipe up to read more
