Do You Think A BMW E46 M3 Can Beat The Toyota GR Yaris On A Drag Strip?

It’s a yesteryear straight-six BMW M3 versus a turbocharged, race-spec hot hatch, the GR Yaris

The folks at Carwow brought the BMW E46 M3 and the Toyota GR Yaris on a drag strip for a series of races

The GR Yaris is powered by a 1.6-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes 261 horses and 266 pound-feet of torque

The BMW E46 M3 comes with a 3.2-liter, six-cylinder engine that produces 343 horses and 269 pound-feet of torque

Power is sent to all the wheels in the GR Yaris via a six-speed manual gearbox

The E46 M3 also comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, but power is sent only to the rear wheels

The GR Yaris weighs 2,822 pounds and is 419 pounds lighter than the BMW! Other than that, this particular model is equipped with a Circuit Package, which adds front and rear limited-slip differentials

The cars were put through in a couple of drag races, which were won by the GR Yaris without any fuss. The BMW just couldn't keep up with the Yaris at any point

Things were different in the rolling races, however. In the first round, they started at 30 mph in the second gear. The GR Yaris was quicker to pick pace, but the BMW won in the end

- In the second rolling race, the cars started at 50 mph in third gear, but the result was the same. It must be noted that the GR Yaris topped out at 143 mph, but the BMW kept going until 150 mph

As for the braking test, the GR Yaris stopped much shorter than the BMW E46 M3 which just seemed to keep going
