If Audi Is going To Make Something Smaller Than the Q4 E-Tron, It’ll Be A Sports Car

Audi isn’t sure exactly what its future holds, but a smaller crossover probably isn’t part of the equation

Following the introduction of the Audi E-Tron GT

Audi Launched the Q4 E-Tron

Which is a compact electric crossover

And the Q4 E-Tron Sportback

Which is a compact electric coupe crossover

Then Audi surprised us with the A6 E-Tron Concept

A car that previews Audi’s future flagship luxury Saloon.

The A6 E-Tron Concept, by the way

Features similar dimensions to the A7

But Audi decided to go with the A6 name

Because it will (hopefully) introduce an electric A6 wagon in the next 5 years

Beyond this, however, Audi CEO, Markus Dusemann said:

“The Volkswagen Group provides other opportunities for people who want smaller and lower-cost EVs.”

So, the Q4 E-Tron will be the smallest electric crossover

At least for now, anyway

This leaves room for Audi to introduce an electric sports car

Like an Audi R8 E-tron

Or, perhaps, the Audi TT will live on as an EV

To take on the Porsche Boxster EV Concept that will debut soon

Either way, Audi isn’t sure when it will go all-electric

And, it won’t set a specific date for when that will happen

When it does happen, though, expect big things

Audi’s last combustion cars Audi makes will be “the best of that type we ever make.”
