The MINI brand began collaborating with John Cooper 60 years ago in September 1961, and that bond continues to this day; MINI's top performance variant still bears the JCW name - with a John Cooper Works badge - and this new special edition has been launched to commemorate that very relationship between the two brands that spans six decades.
The special edition will be available in three models: the MINI Cooper 3-Door, MINI Cooper S 3-Door, and MINI John Cooper Works.
Exterior
The MINI Anniversary Edition is instantly recognizable by its shiny British Racing Green exterior and white accents. There is also a Midnight Black metallic option, and the John Cooper Works Anniversary Edition comes in Rebel Green. As with most MINI’s the roof, mirror caps, and door handles are in a contrasting shade. They are white in color and the same treatment is also included on the surrounds for the headlights and taillights. The 18-inch JCW circuit spoke wheels are two-toned to match the beautiful bodywork.
The MINI Anniversary Edition JCW features sporty white stripes on the hood and contrasting red lines on the tank shroud, as well as the number "74" boldly displayed on the hood and doors. The same number was used on the classic MINI Cooper that won the first race and brought home the Snetterton Lombank Trophy.
Interior
The interior is just as unique as the outside. Inside the cabin, there are some distinctive details. For example, the Cooper welcome pedal and Cooper emblem on the steering wheel are featured on the interior of the MINI Anniversary Edition. John Cooper's signatures can be found on the left side of the driver's instrument cluster along with Mike Cooper and Charlie Cooper who together, represent three generations of the Cooper family.
In addition, Dinamica leather sports seats, stainless steel pedals, piano black trim pieces, and red accents are included. These aspects undoubtedly provide a nostalgic aura, letting you know that you are driving something with a certain pedigree and heritage.
