Spy Shots: An Early Look at the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Porsche is hard at work on the more track-focused Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992)
The Porsche 911 (992) GT3 RS is scheduled to arrive in 2022
Although it may be slightly delayed, recent footage suggest that the car is almost production-ready, with the latest prototype - car 4009 - featuring almost no camouflage
Possibly the most aggressive-looking road-legal 911
The latest itteration of the most track-focused, normally-aspirated 911 has eveyrthing you'd expect and more. The air vents on top of the front fenders and the ones behind the front tires contribute to some serious downforce
The latest test car, however, is a bit different
It seems Porsche is experimentign with some kind of roof-mounted fins, which test car, with number 4008 (previous image) has. Test cars 4001 and the newly spied 4009 car don't have the fins
All test prototypes, spied so far, reveal new door handles
The 992 GT3 RS will feature a more classic door-handle design, which would save weight. Porsche is going the extra length to make the latest GT3 RS as light a possible
It would not be a proper Porsche 911 GT3 RS without a tall rear wing
Althoguh Porsche is yet to give us exact figures, the aggressive aero bits, together with the motorsport-derived rear wing, are expected to provide serious amounts of downforce
Two different rear-wing designs?
Porsche may still be desciding on a rear wing design. The one on car 4001 seems to have more pronounced swan necks, while car 4009's wing seems to have an additional element. Car 4008 sems to have an identical wing to car 4009, which may be final
As usual, we expect more power and less weight compared to the 911 GT3/GT3 Touring
No official numbers have been revealed yet, but we expect at least 540 hp and around 100 lbs less weight. It goes without saying that, just like in the normal GT3, the rear seats will be replaced by a roll-cage
It may only be available with a PDK
Even if the manual is more engaging, this is probably a good thing if you care about lap times, which is what the GT3 RS is meant to do, It's the no-nonsense, normally-aspirated track weapon
No hybrid powertrain yet
The 911 will never go fully electric, but that doesn't cross out electrification. It sems the Turbo will be the first to get electric assist, ut, fortunately, the 992 GT3 RS will remain true to its roots, at least for the 992 generation
The GT3 RS is expected to cost around $50,000 more than the standard GT3
We predict a starting price of around $195,000 for the ultimate, normally-aspirated Porsche 911. Porsche has mastered the art of charging more for less, but 911s, especially GT3 models tend to be a good long-term investment
The Porsche 992 GT3 RS is shaping up to be the most radical, track-focused Porsche 911 GT3, ever made
In an age of increased electrification, the 992 GT3 RS still brings a non-hybrid platform with a normally-aspirated, flat-six and a radical aero

While every 911, especially in Turbo or GT3 trim is a very sought-after collecor's car, this one might surpass all previous models. Do you think the 992 GT3 RS will break the Nurburgring lap record for naturally aspirated cars?
