Tesla Model S Plaid Sets A New Quarter-Mile World Record For A Production Car... Again!

This Model S Plaid completed quarter-mile in 9.081 seconds, thus beating Jay Leno’s record run from a month back

The Model S Plaid is a rocket on tarmac and undoubtedly the king of drag strips

Barely a couple of months after Jay Leno set a quarter-mile record in it, another Model S Plaid has broken it

Back in June, Jay Leno recorded a 1/4-mile time of 9.247 seconds at 152.16 mph

A week later at the Plaid’s debut, Tesla revealed official 1/4-mile numbers at 9.23 seconds at 155 mph

This meant Leno's record could be broken... and it now is

A Model S Plaid set the 1/4-mile world record at the World Wide Technology Raceway in St. Louis on July 24

It posted a time of 9.081 seconds at 154.10 mph, 0.166 seconds quicker

A couple of weeks before this new record, Brooks from DragTimes nearly matched Jay’s time

He posted a quarter-mile time of 9.248 seconds at 151.83 mph

With the way it’s going, the 9.081-second record will also probably be broken in a short time
