Hyundai has released a few teaser images of its upcoming flagship SUV, the 2023 Palisade. The Korean automaker will showcase the refreshed SUV at the New York Auto show, next week. And, for what it's worth, it does look a lot fresher.

It's hard to believe that it was nearly fours years ago that Hyundai debuted the Palisade, its three-row full-size SUV to take on the likes of the Toyota Highlander, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the Honda Pilot. But, things go out of fashion pretty quickly in the auto world, and the Palisade is definitely due for an update.

We knew that a new Palisade was on its way as we've seen it cold-weather testing over the winter in Northern Europe under heavy camouflage. While we couldn't gather much from our spy shots, these new teaser images from Hyundai give off way more.

The Next Palisade

This is the top-of-the-line Calligraphy trim, and off the bat, we can say that the upcoming Palisade will now wear Hyundai's new corporate face similar to the new Tucson and the Santa Cruz. Now, this in itself is a welcome change. I was always been a fan of the way the Palisade looked, barring the face. That curvy front end somehow never fit in with the rest of the boxy profile. The Kia Telluride meanwhile, an SUV that the Palisade shares a lot with, looked far better in my opinion.

Well, that was then, and now, Hyundai seems to have addressed that front end with its new grille that certainly looks a lot edgier and technical than before. What's also new is the light arrangement where the vertical LED accent lights extend from the bumper up to the hood line, similar to what we've seen on a few Cadillacs before.

This becomes even more clear when you view the car from the side. This angle also shows off an all-new multi-spoke design. While it does look, I think they look great on a sedan rather than on a full-size SUV which will see more action in the 'burbs rather than in the businessy part of town.

And, did I mention how hard these things are to keep clean? Rant over, let's talk paint, and I have to say, this flat gray paint definitely suits the Palisade rather well. Overall, I think Hyundai has really upped their design game as they really are doing something different to make their cars stand out in a sea of crossovers and SUVs.

What To Expect

While Hyundai hasn't released any teaser images of the rear, expect to see an updated tail-end as well. Now, this is Hyundai's flagship we're talking about and you can expect it to be pretty loaded in terms of the latest tech making its way into the cabin of the Palisade.

As for the powertrains, it is likely that Hyundai will continue to offer the same 3.8-liter V-6 with 271 horsepower under the hood, in front- or all-wheel-drive configurations. Models lower down in the Hyundai range do offer a hybrid, but there's no word about a Hybrid Palisade yet.

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade will be unveiled at the upcoming New York Auto Show on April 13th at 9:45 a.m. Eastern and 6:45 a.m. Pacific, and will go on sale in summer this year.
