The Ford Focus officially ceased to exist in the North American market in 2018, and it was part of the Blue Oval brand's move to trim its passenger car lineup to just the Mustang. Four years later, the Focus is still alive and well in Europe and certain Asian countries, particularly China. Just after showcasing the facelifted global Focus last October, it's now time for the Chinese version to make an appearance, albeit unofficially.

As per the usual routine in the Chinese auto industry, these photos are from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which showcases the 2023 Ford Focus in various trims. Regardless of which variant is chosen, it looks slightly different from the global model.

What sets apart the Chinese Focus from the rest of the world is its slightly different front bumper and larger black grille that's similar to the Evos and Mondeo.} The lower air intakes of the ST-Line variant (as shown) look similar to the European model, as is the rest of the car's exterior panels. Moving towards the back, you'll see that the rear bumper is ever-so-slightly different, and it's mostly due to its fake vents.

The Chinese-market 2023 Focus also comes in a new variant called S Edition, which somewhat blends a few of the ST-Line's sporty touches, but, not including its more aggressive face and sportier wheels. The S Edition, therefore, sits in between the standard model and the ST-Line variant.

No interior photos of the new Ford Focus were available as of the moment, but we expect it to largely remain unchanged for the 2023 model year. The current Chinese Focus already comes with a larger 12.3-inch touch screen (as shown) as well as a few differences in the interior trimmings when compared to the European version.

In China, the current Focus is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost gasoline engine. However, a number of local Chinese media sites suggest that the new Focus will come with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, though it is still unknown whether this will be turbocharged or not.

The 2023 Ford Focus will be built by the Changan Ford joint venture alongside the Evos and Mondeo.
