The Nürburgring has been quite busy with a lot of automakers testing new models, new generations, and facelifts on the track. We’ve spotted the Honda Civic Type-R, the BMW M3 Touring, the BMW M2 Competition, the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX, the Tesla Model S Plaid with the Aero Package, and heck, even C-8 Corvette E-Ray! Now, our spy photographers have spotted the next-gen Land Rover Range Rover making short work of the Nürburgring.

The Fifth-Gen Land Rover Range Rover Is Coming On 10.26.2021

The SUV has been spotted on the heels of its debut. The automaker teased the fifth-gen Range Rover earlier today and announced that the car will debut on the 26th of October at 20:40 BST. It is the same day Chevy plans to reveal the much-anticipated C8 Corvette Z06.

Coming back to the spy shots, the SUV doesn’t seem too different in the spy shots in terms of overall design and shape. The Range Rover has largely been the same since 2012, which is a long time as per the current standards. Even this fifth-gen model doesn’t seem to be majorly different in terms of shape. Personally, I’m glad the signature shape is retained. There will certainly be fresh design cues, but from the looks of it, it will be subtle.

The model we’ve spied here seems to be the long-wheelbase version of the Range Rover. Up front, the bumper area looks a little different. Even the camouflage is covered keeping in mind the openings at the bottom. Flush door handles are another addition here. The rear is covered and we can’t see a lot of it, but the SUV was leaked online, and get we get a look at the rear. ‘Cochespias’ posted some images of the SUV on its Instagram channel. We can’t vouch for its authenticity, but you can check it out and decide for yourself.

Apart from this, the SUV spied wore a yellow hazard sticker, suggesting it could be a plug-in hybrid model. This will be new because the current LWB model comes only with the 5.0-liter V-8. The charging port is said to be moved to the rear fender from the front grille. We could see a dual-motor setup this time around that would make it even better for off-roading.

For all we know, we could also get the BMW’s 4.4-liter V-8 here that will be more performance-oriented. It was speculated to be plonked only in the Defender, but we could see it here as well. Another thing that we also know is that the SUV will be underpinned on the company’s new MLA platform, which will also serve as the basis for future models.

Conclusion

Apart from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and the BMW X7, the Range Rover now also faces competition from the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and the new Lexus LX 600.} This means it will have to up the ante significantly to make sure it doesn’t fade away into oblivion. Well, it’s just a matter of days now before we get all the information on the fifth-gen Land Rover Range Rover. What do you have to say about it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
