The First 2022 Acura NSX Type S Sold For A Whopping $1.1 Million At An Auction

A person known to purchase first edition performance cars won the bid for the 2022 NSX Type S as well

The very first Acura NSX Type S that was shown at the 2021 Monterey Car Week a few days ago is sold for $1.1 Million at Mecum Day Auctions

The buyer is none other than Rick Hendrick, who has a history of buying first edition examples of high performance cars like Corvette ZL1 and Ford GT Heritage edition.

Mr.Hendrik, who owns the Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports, also bought the very first second-gen Acura NSX in 2017 for $1.2 million.

Proceeds from the sale of the Acura NSX Type S will go towards STEM education at the Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio, not far away from where the NSX is built.

The NSX is very different compared to the regular model and features a far more aggressive looking front-end.

There is extensive use of carbon fiber elements on the sills, the front splitter, the rear wing, and diffuser, thus resulting in a car being 58 lbs lighter.

Several interior trim pieces are also composed of carbon fiber.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are part of the $13,000 lightweight package.

Under the Carbon fiber engine cover lies a 3.5L twin turbo V-6, that along with its tri-electric motors produces 600 hp and 492 lb-ft of torque.

The Type S badge sits proudly on the dash to let you know that you're in something truly special.

The 2022 Acura NSX Type S marks the end of an era for this glorious name, and out of the 350 being produced, only 300 are headed for the U.S.
