Hennessey, the famous Texas tuner and producer of some absolutely insane automobiles, adds another special edition to its repertoire, this time based on the Ford Bronco. It's not their first, as they debuted the full-fledged Ford Bronco VelociRaptor with a 750 horsepower V-8 engine last October. This is, however, that VelociRaptor's little brother.

Overview

Hennessey is well-known for spinning around some genuinely unconventional to extreme variants of any model that it can get its hands on. However, Hennessey may have gone too far last year when it released the Ford Bronco-based VelociRaptor with 750 horsepower for $225,000.

It's just a shame that such a hefty price tag rendered the VelociRaptor a little too elitist in comparison to the SUV on which it was based, which is why Hennessey has now given birth to a more inexpensive, toned-down counterpart dubbed the VelociRaptor 400.

What's Under the Hood?

The VelociRaptor 400 is based on the Bronco Wildtrak, which has a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that delivers 335 horsepower and 415 foot-pounds of torque.

What was the end result? A 76-horsepower and 88-foot-pound torque increase result in 405 horsepower and 503 foot-pounds of peak torque. Because of these enhancements, the VelociRaptor 400 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds. A time comparable, albeit significantly higher, to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. }

The other Mods

Mods Hennessey has done more than merely tinkering with the Ford Bronco's performance framework. It has also addressed other aspects of the vehicle. Heavy-duty bumpers, retractable side steps, and 18-inch wheels that accommodate 35-inch off-road tires are standard on the VelociRaptor 400. LED auxiliary lights, embroidered headrests, especially numbered license plates, and customized branding round out the features.

Velociraptor 400 Price

The best part is still to come. The Hennessey VelociRaptor 400 Bronco is significantly less expensive than the company's previous incarnation based on the Bronco, since the package costs $24,950 on top of the standard Wildtrak, totaling $80,000.

To Sum it Up

The model will be available as a two-door or four-door with or without a soft top. Only 200 prototypes will be produced this year, with an additional 50 planned for 2022.
