The New 2022 Toyota Tundra Breaks Cover With A New Hybrid V-6 And A Whole Lot Of Major Upgrades

A new V-6 engine in two configurations, new suspension setup, and interior and exterior updates are some of the accolades

Toyota unveiled the third-gen 2022 Tundra and it comes with a whole lot of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades

The highlight is the new engine. Toyota has ditched the V-8 engine and plonked in a 3.5-liter V-6 in its place that’s offered in two configurations

In the standard form, it makes 389 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid option comes with an electric motor and puts out 437 HP and 583 lb-ft of torque. Both the options are mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox

The 2022 Tundra features a multi-link rear suspension setup that comes with coil springs instead of leaf springs now

Air Suspension and an Adaptive Variable Suspension system are also available

The 2022 Tundra can now tow up to 12,000 lbs and haul up to 1,940 lbs, a noticeable improvement over its predecessor

On the outside, it looks sharper and bolder, thanks to the massive grille up front and the new taillight setup at the rear

The cabin feels fresh and lively. It comes with an eight-inch touchscreen system on the base trims and a 14-inch touchscreen system on the higher trims

The TRD Pro trim returns for the 2022 model. It comes with stuff like 2.5-inch FOX internal bypass shocks, 1.1-inch front lift, front stabilizer bar, TRD aluminum front skid plate, all-terrain Falken tires, etc.

Apart from the TRD Pro trim, the Tundra will be offered in five other trims and two packages. A total of 11 exterior color options are also available

Toyota hasn’t revealed the 2022 Tundra’s prices yet, but it will be more expensive than the current Tundra. The 2021 Tundra retails from $34,355 and goes all the way up to $52,295
