The Next-Gen Audi A4 Arrive In The Shadow of a High-Performance EV

The Audi A4 RS E-Tron EV Will Actually Be Sold Alongside the Gas-Powered Audi A4

Audi is about the shake up its most important model – the A4

The next-gen A4 is expected for 2023, and it will be the last of the A4 range to be sold with an ICE

Audi is reportedly, however, taking a play from Porsche’s playbook

By offering the next-gen A4 as a pure EV alongside the gas-drinking model

As of now, we’re calling it the A4 RS E-Tron, but the name hasn’t been confirmed

Reports say that it will ride on the same PPE platform that underpins the A6 E-Tron, Q6 E-Tron, and the next-gen Macan EV

Power output and performance hasn’t been confirmed

But rumor has it that it’ll be good for 469 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque

Power will be derived from a dual-motor setup, with one motor in the front and one in the rear

Obviously, this means Quattro AWD will be standard kit and all-wheel steering may be on the table too.

0-60 mph should happen in four seconds or less

With top speed being limited somewhere around 155 mph

Pricing will be closer to $100,000 than to $50,000 but it’ll still be affordable for a model of its nature

As for the gas-drinking A4, the good tech will be reserved for the EV

So things like the adaptive air suspension will be reserved for the E-tron

The next-gen A4 should debut in 2022 with the A4 RS E-Tron expected to arrive a year or two after that, probably for the 2025 model year.
